The scriptures teach that faith is the ability to believe in things that are not seen that are true. But they also teach that faith is much more than a belief. It is an actual power.
"Who through faith subdues kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens." -Hebrews 11:33-34
This scripture teaches many of the powerful things we can do through our faith. The question then is, how can we turn our faith into a principle of power?
Here are 7 ways, you can make your faith powerful and change your world.
1. Believe in the possibilities
Faith truly is believing. It is that simple. What you believe to be true dictates your thoughts and your actions. Your thoughts and actions determine your world. Let go of doubt, fear, and unbelief and embrace the fact that everything is possible to those who believe.
Belief is a key element in faith; it is the very definition of it. Believe that the scriptures are true. Believe that miracles happened then and miracles happen now. God never changes. He is waiting for us to recognize that and to believe in his power to save.
2. Act in faith
Faith is a principle of action. It isn't enough to just say we believe, we have to show it by our actions. Sometimes we have to step into the dark before the path is illuminated ahead of us. This is where our faith comes in and is vital to us moving forward.
Taking that first step, or several steps into the dark, is us acting on our faith and believing there is light ahead. When we act in faith, we begin demonstrating that power that comes from believing.
3. Be aware of your thoughts
The scriptures teach that our thoughts will betray us, and it is true. If we tell ourselves that it's going to be a terrible day, it usually is, but if we wake up with a smile, it significantly changes our day's outcome.
The words we speak to ourselves and others, generally define who we are. As a man thinks, so he is. If we truly understood the power of our intent, we could create a happy life, simply by thinking uplifting and inspiring thoughts.
4. Look forward with an eye of faith
Looking forward with an eye of faith means listening to what God needs you to do while you live upon this earth and then seeing yourself fulfilling that mission.
It is closing your eyes and looking forward in your mind to see that moment when you are fulfilling the mission you have been inspired to accomplish.
5. Let God be the leader
When you let God be in charge of your life, you will be surprised at how immediate the answers to your prayers are, and how many miracles come into your life.
Moses was able to use the power of his faith to part the red sea because he was doing God's work. When we turn our life over to God, expect miracles because that is how God fulfills his plan and blesses his children. When God is in charge, we need not fear.
6. Listen to the Still Small Voice
God is constantly trying to communicate with us, but half the time we never hear it or we discount it as our own thoughts.
If you feel impressed to do something and you're unsure of who it's coming from, ask Heavenly Father if it is coming from him. He will give you confirmation that it is from him and you can move forward and act on what he feels he wants you to do.
If you feel you aren't getting answers, then still follow through with any feelings that lead to goodness, kindness, or love. If the motivation behind it is good, then be assured that it is from God and act on it. Every good thing comes from God.
7. Experiment on God's word
If you struggle to build your faith, act upon what you feel you are being directed to do through God, and do it with a willing heart. If goodness comes from it, you can know your impression came from God and just doing what he asked you to do will strengthen your faith. The more you use your faith, the more you will learn how to use it, especially when it comes to using it as a principle of power.
Faith is a remarkable gift that we can claim from our Heavenly Father. If we use it righteously, it can give us the power to move mountains if we desire. Timothy says, "Fight the good fight of faith." Not only will it change our thoughts, but it will change our world.
