The Bible is filled with stories of angels appearing to both men and women. From Adam and Abraham, Jacob and Mary the mother of Jesus, to the shepherds in their fields, all the way down to Christ himself. Angels have always played an important role in furthering God's work here on Earth.

In today's chaotic world, God's work is still being performed and angels are just as present as they were in the times of the Bible. The struggle we have in our busy daily life, is actually recognizing them for what they are.

When good things happen, we call it luck or just a coincidence, rather than giving the credit to God and his angels.

If we recognized that every good thing comes from God, we would no longer see goodness as luck or coincidence; we would see it as the hand of God.

Here are four ways you can know angels are real and recognize God's hand in your life.

1. Pray for angels

If you want to know that angels are real, pray to God and ask him to send them to you.

Pray that they will help you increase your faith. Pray that they will prepare the way before you and bring goodness to your life. Pray that they will help you find those things that are lost.

I once lost the pendant to a necklace that was very important to me. I spent the entire day running errands and was afraid I would never find it. I prayed to God that he would send an angel to find it for me and leave it on the floor in my bedroom so I would find it when I returned home.

When I walked into my room, I was disappointed because it wasn't there. I walked to my nightstand to put down my earrings, and as I turned to walk out, I stepped on something. It was my lost pendant.

I know without a doubt that my prayer was answered. Angels come to our aid when we ask in faith.

Psalms 91:11 says, "For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways." Trust that what God says is true. Angels are watching over us waiting for our prayers to call them to our rescue.

2. Serve those around you

Angels attend those who go about doing good. Those who spend their lives in the service of others have a light about them that is distinguishable above all others.

They walk with the company of angels and they feel the presence of divine help prompting them where they should go and who they should serve. These angels prepare the way before them so that wonderful opportunities are opened. Miracles follow those who dedicate their lives to the Lord.

I have recognized that the more I strive to do God's will, the more I recognize his angels surrounding me. They lift me up and carry me many times when I have exhausted my own strength and ability.

In Hebrews 13:2 it is written, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Pray to have your eyes opened to the miracles God grants through his angels.

3. Spend time with children

Children have a deep connection with heaven. Many are wise beyond their years with a faith that cannot be dimmed. They have eyes to see and ears to hear those things that God and angels whisper in their ears.

They are unspotted from the world and their hearts are pure. Therefore, they can see God's light much clearer than most of us. They speak with angels, see visions, and dream dreams, all of which can help us to increase in our own faith and testimony of God and heaven.

My young daughter came to my room a few months ago and told me that there was someone in her room that looked like me, but was dressed in a white nightgown. She said that she was watching her sleep. My daughter had no idea that for years, since my mother's death, I have prayed for her to watch over my children as they sleep and that I look just like her.

In 1986, there was a terrible school bombing in Cokeville, Wyoming and the children saw angels protecting them. It wasn't the teachers that saw them, but the children.

Children are precious and wise. If we spend time listening, we can learn much from their innocence. In Matthew 18:10 Christ says, "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you that in heaven, their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."

Our children have angels surround them who have a direct link to God himself. If you stop to feel with your heart, you will feel the presence of angels when you are surrounded by God's precious children.

4. Believe

This is the essential element that will help us all to recognize the angels that surround us.

Believe in what the Bible tells you. Angels are real and they are continually going about doing God's work. Knowing angels are really real, truly is a faith thing.

When we believe with a pure heart, God will manifest himself to us. Not only will we behold God's face, but we will see all those angels who go about doing his work. Children see angels because they are pure in heart and they believe in things they cannot see. Isn't that what faith is.

In Matthew 18:3 Christ says, "Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." It is only when our hearts are pure, innocent, and without doubt that we can behold the wonders of heaven. Believe in what you cannot see so you can see what you believe from your heart.
