Eva Mendes is giving an update on her future in Hollywood.
Mendes has been away from the big screen for a decade, choosing to focus on motherhood instead of acting. Since her last film appearance, Mendes has dedicated her time to raising her two daughters, Esmeralda, 10, and Amada, 8, with her partner, Ryan Gosling.
While Gosling continues to star in major films like "The Big Short," "La La Land," and "Barbie," Mendes has explored other creative outlets, such as fashion, makeup, and writing. Her latest endeavor is a children's book titled "Desi, Mami, and The Never-Ending Worries."
In a recent appearance on Good Morning America, Mendes discussed the possibility of returning to acting. She reflected on her career and her 2012 film "The Place Beyond the Pines," which she starred in alongside Gosling. "I felt like I did it," she said. "Working with Ryan was a high point in my career, and I thought it might be a good time to step away, like a 'Seinfeld' moment."
Mendes' perspective on acting has evolved since becoming a mother. In a 2020 interview, she expressed that while she still loves acting, her priorities have shifted. "Acting is something that I will always love. It's just like now that I have children, I'm kind of extreme," Mendes said. "There's just so many things I won't do. Like, I won't do most of the movies I've done in the past. A lot of things are off that list. I don't want to do anything too violent. Of course, I don't want to do anything too sexual or sexual at all."
Despite stepping away from the big screen, Mendes did make a brief appearance in the children's show "Bluey" in 2021, which was well-received in her household.
Discussing her new book on Good Morning America, Mendes shared that writing has also helped her in parenting. The book's main character, Desi, deals with constant worries, something Mendes can relate to. Desi tries to make sure her brain isn't being a bully with negative thoughts and is more like a best friend, she explained.
Eva Mendes' journey highlights the importance of prioritizing family and finding new ways to channel creativity, all while maintaining a deep love for her original passion. Whether or not she returns to acting remains uncertain, but her commitment to her family and new ventures continues to inspire.
