Tracey Rendina

Having your child be crowned valedictorian is a huge honor, but what if all of your children were able to achieve it? A central Florida family knows the feeling after their youngest daughter graduated as valedictorian from high school, following in the footsteps of her three older sisters. Tracey Rendina's four girls — Ryleigh, 18, Taylor, 20, Alisa, 22, and Makaley, 24 all graduated from the same high school in different years and each one graduated as the valedictorian, something that is reportedly a 1 in an 11 billion chance.

Tracey Rendina, the chair of the math department at Astronaut High School, where her daughters were students, credits their accomplishments to their "great work ethics." In an interview with Fox, Rendina said that she and her husband, Mike, never put any pressure on their kids to achieve this goal. "We never told them they had to make As. There was no [telling them], ‘You have to do this or else.' It was always, ‘You just do your best,’" Rendina said. "'As long as you're doing your best, whatever that is, is what we expect,'" she added. By the time Ryleigh, the youngest Rendina, reached her senior year, she was the final sister to achieve the title. "By the time we [reached] No. 4, and she knew that all of her sisters had been valedictorian, I do think she felt internally some pressure to do that as well," Rendina said. Tracey said she and her husband made sure to always let their girls know that they were there for them, regardless if they won or lost. "That's where I'm most proud of them," she said. "Even in those times when there were those devastating things, we were all there to support them and their sisters were there to support each other, too, and tell them, 'It's going to be OK and whatever went wrong, you can come back from that.'" When Ryleigh was finally named valedictorian of her class, she and her family felt a relief. "I think they all had that sense of relief that, 'OK, we all did it. Now we're all in this together and we all made it right,'" Rendina said. "It's like a win for one is a win for all."
