A Florida mother had a scare after finding an AirTag in her 7-year-old son's shoe, calling it "every mother's worst nightmare." According to Fox 35, Jackie Giurleo found out that her son was being tracked through the device before realizing it was a bizarre mix-up. Giurleo said that she did not own any AirTags, but when she began receiving iPhone notifications that one of the devices was nearby, she began to panic. She started getting the notifications at a Christmas parade on Satellite Beach, saying one of the devices was nearby. She told the outlet that a map of all the places her son had been popped up on her phone as an undetected AirTag alert. She searched through all of her son's clothing and toys before she found a quarter-sized hole on the bottom on her son's shoe sole. It had been tracking him for nearly a month.

Giurleo immediately took the AirTag to the Brevard County Sherriff's Office where they were able to get the address of the person who owned the tracking device. "Luckily, it just turned into a happy coincidence of a tale of two moms," Giurleo told Fox 35. Her son had taken his shoes off at a Christmas parade bounce house where he accidentally switched shoes with another boy. "I can remember that I saw one of the kids had the same shoes as me, and I think we put them in the same places, and then we just swapped," Aidan told Fox 35. "I took his, and he took mine." The AirTag belonged to a family who was visiting Florida from Oklahoma. The little boy's parents attached the AirTag on the inside of his shoe in case of an emergency. Giurleo was relieved to find out that it was a misunderstanding instead of being something dangerous. "We were really lucky that we had a happy ending," the mom said.
