God is our Father, and because he is our Father, he sees our lives through a different perspective.
Before we came to Earth, we lived with God and we knew him intimately. Although we are now mortal and have forgotten our divine heritage, our Father in heaven has not. He knows who we are and he sees what we can become.
Because we have forgotten our heavenly home, our ability to see our own divinity has been diminished. That does not mean that our value in God's eyes has decreased, but the value in our own.
We are all children of God, and he wants us to be all that we can be. Only when we can see ourselves and others through God's eyes, will we have the ability to overcome the trials of this life and find peace in living.
Here are six ways we can see the world through God's eyes.
1. See the good
There is so much good in the world, but it is difficult to see because it is clouded by darkness.
Everything that is good comes from God. God sees the good because he is the one that brings it to us. There is good in everything, but we have to be looking for it.
God sends us little messages of goodness everyday to remind us that he is there and aware of us. There is a rainbow in every rainstorm, a beautiful butterfly in every caterpillar, a diamond in the blackest coal, and life in every dried up seed.
Choose to see the good in everything and I promise you will find it. Seek the good in yourself, in others, and in every situation. If you do, you will be surprised at how much goodness you will find every single day. Because whatever you are looking for, that is what you will find.
2. Love the unlovable
It is a lot easier to love those who love you first, but God has asked us to do more. He pleads with us to love our neighbors, our fellow men, and even our enemies.
The wonderful thing about God is that he doesn't ask us to do anything that he isn't willing to do himself. He loves all his children, even the difficult ones, and he has asked that we love them too.
When we learn to love the unlovable, we gain a better understanding of how God loves us despite all our failings. Often we are unlovable to ourselves and only when we learn to love who we are and see ourselves through God's eyes, can we become who we were meant to be.
When we see people as children of God, we stop judging them and love with our whole hearts. Choose to see people through God's eyes and you will have all the strength you need to love the unlovable.
4. Spend time in nature
Nature is the work of God's hands. It is a place where we can commune with God and feel of his love for us.
When we see the beauty of God's creations, through his eyes, it helps us to have gratitude for everything we have been given. Nature was given to enrich our lives and is a perfect reminder of the majesty and grace of our Father in Heaven.
When we recognize it as his creation for us, it is awe inspiring and breathtakingly beautiful. When we show awe and gratitude for its grandeur, we are filled with God's Spirit that witnesses to us of God's hand in our life and the wonder of his love. Spending time treasuring nature is spending time with God.
5. Use your power to create
We are all created by God, and as we use our own power to create, we can see creation through God's eyes and recognize how much God loves us.
As we treasure those things we have created, it is normal to feel great love and fulfillment because of them. It also brings us joy when our creation is admired and loved by others. Compare that feeling to the feelings of our Father.
He loves his creations and delights when others love and appreciate them too. He is pleased when we acknowledge the beauty and delicacy of his creations and when we use them to praise him. This includes how we look at ourselves as a creation of God's own hands, patterned in the image of our Father. Through God's eyes, all creations are truly remarkable.
6. Spend your life in service
The Savior's entire life was devoted to service and he did all things in the name of the Father.
As we serve God's children here on Earth, we are following the Savior and in turn doing the will of the Father. We are learning to love as he loved, serve as he served and live as he lived. This allows us to open our heart and see our fellow travelers in life as brothers and sisters, as we are all children of God our Father.
It allows us to gain the experience we need to learn to love with our whole heart, just as God loves us. It helps us to see the good in others and the good in ourselves. A life of service is a life walking hand in hand with God.
7. Look for the big picture
God sees all when we only see parts of the whole puzzle.
Looking forward with an eye of faith means striving to look ahead through the darkness into the light. Look beyond the moment and focus on the hope of a brighter day.
Faith is believing in things that you cannot see that are real. Look ahead in your mind to those things you desire and you will see as God sees.
