Jessica Alba, well-known actress, entrepreneur, wife, and mother has recently added doting daughter to her list of roles, and it's clear she cherishes this one.

Nearly three years ago, Alba embarked on what she calls ‘the project of my dreams.’ She took to Instagram to reveal a special home-renovation surprise for her parents. “I surprised my parents by buying them a house!!” she announced. But this wasn't just any house—it was her grandparents' home, the very place where her father, Mark, grew up in Claremont, California, just 40 minutes east of Los Angeles.

In an accompanying YouTube video, Alba shared the sentimental value of the house, built by her immigrant grandparents from Mexico. For her grandfather, the house symbolized his success and the opportunities he could provide for his children that other neighborhoods couldn't offer.

After her grandfather passed away, Alba's parents had planned to sell the house to cover her grandmother’s medical expenses. Alba, however, had a different idea. “I pretended like I was going to help them flip it before selling when in reality, I had planned to buy it for them all along,” she revealed. Keeping this secret, she worked tirelessly to make the home perfect.

Reflecting on the project, Alba shared, “Even just watching this trailer back, I’m filled with so many feels - after keeping in this big secret, surprising my parents, followed by many many months of working to make the house perfect.” She dedicated the project to her late grandfather, saying, “Grampers, this one is for you - we love and miss you more than you know.”

In the YouTube video, Alba breaks the news to her parents, capturing their emotional reaction. Her brother, Josh, notes their father's visible shock, while Mark, teary-eyed, tells Jessica, “[Your grandfather] would be proud of you.”

Although her grandfather has passed, Alba believes his legacy lives on in the house. “I tried to infuse Grandpa throughout the house,” she stated.

Besides this personal project, Alba has ventured into a renovation series with her friend Lizzy Mathis. The show focuses on renovating homes for parents whose spaces no longer meet their needs. This renovation of her grandparents' home predates the TV show but undoubtedly set the stage for it.
