Madeline, glowing in the company of her friends and family, including her sister-in-law Meredith Gaudreau, proudly displayed her baby bump. In the Instagram caption, she called it the "Baby Shower of my Dreams," adding a white heart and dove emoji. She expressed gratitude to the event planners, saying, “My husband would have loved all the balloons.”
Reflecting on the emotional day, she wrote, "The way you were able to tie in my husband brought instant tears when I walked in." She went on to express her appreciation for the love and support around her, acknowledging, “Nothing will bring his dad back or Uncle John, but I’m glad he has so many amazing people around him to remind him how incredible they were.”
In her Instagram stories, Madeline wrote, “Shower of my dreams with the best angel in heaven looking over us,” and shared photos of themed cookies, including star-shaped ones with “Tripp” written on them and cloud-shaped treats that read, “Heaven Sent.” She also reposted a tribute from Katie Gaudreau, Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau's younger sister, who wrote, “Felt the love from your Daddy and Uncle John today. We love you, Tripp Matthew.”
The post received an outpouring of love and support from fans, with comments like, “What a beautiful celebration! The Gaudreau babies have a strong, loving village. God bless you!” and, “Beautiful! Baby Tripp is so loved.” Another supporter wrote, “Your family is so loved—even by those of us who have never met you. Thinking of you and Tripp and praying for you every single day.”
The Gaudreau family has been surrounded by support following the tragic deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau in late August. Johnny Gaudreau, a player for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his brother Matthew were struck and killed by an alleged drunken driver while riding their bikes in their New Jersey hometown. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Just a few months before Matthew’s passing, he and Madeline had shared their excitement on Instagram about expecting their first child. Madeline posted a black-and-white photo of them holding hands, with a string of ultrasound images hanging from her back pocket, captioning it, “Baby Gaudreau Arriving in December.”
At Matthew’s funeral in September, Madeline spoke movingly about how devoted he was to being a father from the moment they found out about their baby. “The moment we found out about our son Tripp, it consumed his every day. He was downloading apps, ordering books, finding the best diaper brand, making sure I had the best vitamins, and asking for tips from John,” she recalled.
She added that she feels Matthew’s presence whenever she enters the nursery he began to prepare. “Matthew was so excited to welcome Tripp into this world, and although the plan now looks a little different, I know Matt will surround his son for the rest of his life. I’m so thankful God gave us a child, a little Matty to run around for life, to carry on his legacy. Tripp will know how much his father loved him, and I promise to do all the things with him we talked about.”
At the joint funeral for Johnny and Matthew, Johnny’s wife, Meredith Gaudreau, revealed she is also expecting a child. She shared the news during her eulogy, announcing the upcoming arrival of their third child. On her Instagram story, Meredith reposted a picture of herself with Madeline, adding the message, “I got you. We got this. So proud of you. Already the best mom.”
