Ashanti and Nelly are expecting their first child together after rekindling their romance earlier this year. “Nelly and Ashanti are welcoming their first baby together,” a source told Us Weekly. The pair sparked rumors over the weekend after Ashanti, 43, attended Nelly's Black and White Ball in St. Louis. During the event, the singer seemingly put her hand on her stomach as if she were pregnant, with Nelly doing the same thing to her. The pair laughed afterwards after hinting that they could be expecting a child.

Nelly and Ashanti first met during a Grammy Awards press conferences and dated on and off from 2003 to 2013 before calling it quits. In April, the duo sparked rumors that they were back together after they were seem holding hands at a boxing match in Las Vegas. They that they were back together after Ashanti attended the 2023 MTV VMA's in September where she carried a clutch with a throwback photo of the pair on it. "We’re in a great place,” the singer shared at the time when asked about the reunion. “I think it’s pretty obvious. Yeah, we’re together.” On the same day, Nelly confirmed their relationship while appearing on "Boss Moves With Rasheeda," where he said “Yeah, we’re cool again. I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that was like, I don’t think, planned. I think we both was pretty much doing what we do.” He continued,  “But sometimes being separate, you understand one another more, where you could be like, ‘Well, yo, let me exactly see, maybe, what they see.’ ’Cause you know we all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships. And we know we’re wrong, but we’re going to stand on it, you what I mean?

This will be Ashanti's first child while it will be Nelly's third. He shares daughter Chanelle, 29, and son Cornell, 24, with ex Channetta Valentine.
