There's no word yet on whether or not Kate Middleton and Prince William's new baby is a boy or girl, but that hasn't stopped people from guessing what the new prince or princess of Cambridge's name will be.
Associate professor of modern British history at Boston University, Arianne Chernock said, "If you look at the names of their two children - 18th century Hanoverian names with George and Charlotte - you see they're very classic, very traditional, so I would expect them to maintain that deference to tradition. I don't think they're really going to make a radical choice."
Chernock's top guesses for the new royal's name are Caroline and Alexandra for a girl and Edward for a boy. She said that these are names of beloved and revered former monarchs that follow the tradition of William and Kate's other choices.
Currently bookies are taking these things into account when placing bets on the royal baby's name. Betting agency employee Jessica Bridge said that the patterns can be tracked since royals tend to stick to the same canon of names saying they "regurgitate the same names every few generations so it's very hard to see a Princess Chardonnay or a Prince Wayne."
