This is Carlie Wittman
She's freshman in high school. Her three older brothers absolutely adore her. And she has Down syndrome.
This is Shaedon Wedel
His best friend is Carlie's older brother, Carson Wittman. Shaedon said that Carlie "has brought nothing but joy to my life. Anyone who is ever around her, she just makes them laugh."
Shaedon decided he wanted to return the favor. He wanted to make Carlie happy. So, he did the unexpected.
He asked her to his senior prom
"I decided on the Doritos theme because I have known her for seven years and there has not been a day that I have not seen her eat Doritos," Shaedon told The Huffington Post. "She absolutely loves them!"
And her reaction will make you smile (and possibly cry)
Carlie is special, not only because of the extra chromosome that causes her Down syndrome, but because of her sweet, smiling and fun-loving nature.
In another article 48 parents shared with Huffington Post the things that made their child with Down syndrome special. Almost all of the comments mentions how kind their children are, how sensitive they are to other's feelings and how intelligent they are. In other words, what makes their child different isn't the extra chromosome, but their unique talents and nature. Like these parents, Shaedon sees Carlie for who she is.
Like most teenagers, Carlie is excited for prom to have her Cinderella moment, and Shaedon is more than willing to give it to her.
