In the popular song "Rude," by Magic!, the lyrics tell the story of a young man whose proposal is rebuffed by his would be wife's father. "Why you gotta be so rude? I'm gonna marry her anyway," the lyrics ask. With a song of his own, this dad answers that question.

Benji Cowart strums a guitar while singing his reasons like, "Why you gotta call me rude, for doing what a dad should do, and keep her from a fool like you?" and "If you marry her anyway, marry that girl, I'm gonna punch your face." He also warns potential suitors they should "make more than burger and fries" and get out of their mom's basement if they want to marry his daughter.
