Carole DeBruler, owner of Golden Treasures Kennel in Pensacola, Florida has gone viral after posting picture and videos of her dog's recent litter of puppies, one of them being born with lime green fur. The puppy, named Shamrock, was born on March 3rd and was ready for St. Patrick's Day early. When Carole posted a video of the puppy to TikTok showing it's unique coloring, it went viral. In the video, DeBruler explained that Shamrock's coloring is likely the result of being stained with biliverdin, likely caused by bile in the mother dog's womb. DeBruler said the puppy was "born lucky." "From the best we know, and I am not a vet or scientist, she was stained with biliverdin from the placenta," DeBruler said. "We have seen light staining many times over the years, but with Shamrock, the staining was deep and did not wash off either by us or by Ivey, the mom."

In late April, DeBuler shared a TikTok update of Shamrock at almost two months old where her green fur was almost gone. "Shamrock is eight weeks now…and a beauty!!! The green tint is very light and shows mostly if her fur gets wet! She is healthy and feisty! What a sweet doggo!!!," read the caption.

Shamrock and her siblings are English cream golden retrievers, which means their fur is lighter in color. According to the Golden Retriever Club of America, puppies born in the same litter ca come in a variety of different colors ranging from "very light cream to a rich gold," although green isn't one of the colors listed.
