After the Kansas City Chiefs secured a 30-27 victory against the Carolina Panthers, defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton stepped in to help a young fan who fell from the stands at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

The incident occurred as the Chiefs headed out of the stadium after securing a win over the Panthers with a score of 30-27. A young Chiefs fan attempted to lean over the railing and greet the players. But as he leaned, the fan suddenly flipped over the railing and cratered down head-first as Wharton, 26, swooped in and caught him.

The incident occurred as the boy, wearing a Nick Bolton jersey, approached the railing to greet Chiefs players and fell through a gap. Wharton quickly assisted the fan, helping him back into the stands as stadium staff directed other spectators to remain seated.

A security guard can then be heard telling all the fans to back up and return to their seats.

The moment quickly circulated online, with football fans praising Wharton’s heroic efforts to step in and thwart an incident that could have easily resulted in a hospital visit for the young boy.

During an interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Wharton recounted the experience, saying, "Usually when I leave a game, try to throw my gloves in the crowd, and I think I heard my name a little bit, and when I heard my name, I seen him coming down. It was two security guards right there, I don’t think they realized what I was doing because they were looking at us but I just had to kinda like push him into the stands a little bit to make sure he didn’t hit too hard." Wharton expressed a desire to reconnect with the young fan, hoping to invite him to another game.

Wharton signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and has since won two Super Bowls with the team, in 2023 and 2024.
