Demi Lovato and Jordan Lutes are officially engaged after one year of dating. The pair, who went public with their romance in August 2022, got engaged in Los Angeles, a rep for the singer confirmed to People. After a "personal and intimate proposal" the pair headed to one of their favorite L.A. restaurants, Craig's, to celebrate with their families. Lutes, a 32-year-old songwriter, first met Lovato in January 2022 when they co-wrote her song "Substance." The pair began seeing each other romantically soon after. In August 2022 in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Lovato opened up about her relationship. "We became friends first. We were friends for several months and then we decided to start dating and well, after we told each other how we felt." In an interview with CBS Mornings while promoting her new music, Lovato said, "I definitely am in a really good place. I don't know what I'm going to write about on my next album because I'm so happy. It is a really good feeling...definitely a bunch of sappy love songs — for sure."
Lovato's mother, Dianna De La Garza, welcomed Lutes to the family with a comment on People's Instagram post highlighting their engagement saying, “Welcome to our family, @jutesmusic WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! And I love you @ddlovato ❤️ You’re the most perfect couple!!" Lutes responded to the comment saying, "Love you! thank you for having me 🖤🖤🖤"
In March, Lovato shared a sweet message to Lutes in an Instagram post for his birthday saying, "My sweet angel - it’s officially your birthday!!! I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate you because I couldn’t be more in love with your gorgeous, funny, sexy, talented self." She continued, "I’ve waited my whole life to find you and I can’t wait to celebrate so many more birthdays together.. you’re a literal dream come true and I’m so grateful to call you mine."
