Dwayne Wade recently addressed a recent misunderstanding about him and his wife Gabrielle Union after she made a comment about how to couple splits bills. While discussing her family in a Bloomberg interview, Union said, “It’s weird to say I’m head of household because, in this household, we split everything 50/50.” The comment led to many debates on social media, but Wade made sure to clear up the rumors when he appeared on the "Club Shay Shay" podcast with former NFL player Shannon Sharpe. “Everybody thinks 50/50, they think, ‘Hey, if he’s getting a sandwich, you gotta put 50% on that.’ That’s not how it works.” Wade explained that he and his wife both help their own family members financially, but when it comes to their own household expenses, they like to equally contribute. The retired NBA player discussed what got the couple to this place, referring back to an argument they had years ago when living in Miami where he referred to their house as "my house that I paid for." Wade discussed Union's reaction to his comment saying, “My wife looked at me, she was like, ‘You will never say that to me again when it’s something that we share.' My wife is like, ‘When we move to LA, I got half on it.’ You will never say, ‘my house’ again.’”
Wade, who refers to his wife as a "boss and independent woman," sad that Union wanted to contribute to any large purchases made for the pair, including their house in Los Angeles. He discussed that although he could financially provide for their family with just his contributions, it was something that the couple decided against. “We decided that certain pieces of our life, we would share in it,” he said.
