We all know that people aren't perfect. And because of this, an occasional lie might slip out. Here are 10 common lies wives tell their husbands.
1. "I'll be ready in five minutes."
Just take a seat and fiddle on your phone. She'll be a while.
2. "I just need one thing from the store."
She only needs one thing, but she's going to bring home 10.
3. "Yeah, you can go out with your friends."
She actually wants to spend time with you, but she'll feel guilty if she tells you no. If you haven't had some one-on-one time with her lately, consider forgoing your plans and spending the evening together.
4. "You don't have to get me anything for my birthday."
Yes, you do. Don't fall for this one. If it's money she's worried about, try giving her something simple like a foot massage or a homemade dinner.
5. "It wasn't too expensive."
She's right. It wasn't too expensive, but it was a little on the pricey side.
6. "Does this dress make me look fat? Be honest; I won't get mad."
She's feeling self-conscious. Flatter her by telling her how beautiful she looks.
7. "Yes, I need this."
It doesn't matter what it is. It could be a curling iron, earrings, jeans, makeup or shoes. Saying she needs it probably really means that she wants it.
You can either turn your head when the total price pops up on the register, or you can sit down with her to discuss a shopping budget.
8. "Really, it's fine."
Translation: You've said something offensive, and she wants you to figure it out on your own.
9. "I'm all right."
Sometimes she really means it when she says this, but you'll need to investigate her nonverbal cues to find out if she's truly all right. You'll start to pick up on her signals more easily as time goes on.
10. "I'm not hungry."
Assess the situation. Is she in a different environment? Is she meeting your family or friends for the first time? Is she nervous about a new job position?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, she's hungry. She probably doesn't feel like she has much of an appetite because of the circumstances, so please, just get your wife some food.
Your wife's lies aren't intentional. She says what she does because she truly believes those things, or because she doesn't want to inconvenience you. Detecting your wife's lies requires observing her nonverbal cues. Don't fret; you'll understand her more the longer you are together.
