You've known your best friend for a while now, perhaps even a few years! But how do you know if your relationship with your best friend has made it? Here are 18 ways to know for sure:
1. You know basically everything about each other
There's nothing more to learn about the other. You already know their favorite Disney movie, the song they can belt out word for word at the top of their lungs and even their deepest darkest secrets.
2. You run errands together
If you need to get groceries, your best friend is the perfect buddy. They'll even do a little bit of their own "to-do list" shopping too. But mostly they'll be watching your back to make sure you don't make any rash decisions and buy those three jars of Nutella you (do) don't need.
3. They are one of the few you turn to for advice
It doesn't matter the time of day, if you need someone to talk to, your best friend will always be there.
4. They have the best dating advice
Having problems in your dating life? It doesn't matter the circumstances, they will know exactly the right thing to say to you.
5. You watch Netflix and eat ice cream out of the carton together
Sometimes, when it comes to dating and relationships, the best solution is to just chill, eat ice cream out of the carton and watch Netflix.
6. You have started sharing in their obsessions
Mugs, Abraham Lincoln, Captain America, lanyards, Frankenstein ... whatever it is they're obsessed with, somehow now you are too.
7. You can't watch your favorite TV show without them
Chances are, they've introduced you to your new favorite TV show, and neither of you can watch the newest episodes without each other. Once the show begins, cue fangirling and panicked screaming.
8. You can sit together in a room without saying anything and it won't be awkward
When you've run out of things to talk about (which isn't often), you can sit together and chill with your own thoughts, scrolling through social media on your phones and the world actually won't end.
9. You know their quirks
The two of you have been best friends for so long, you know exactly what makes them tick. It's the little things. You've picked up some of their habits and mannerisms, both good and bad, to the extent you know if they're going gray or super nervous because their nails have been bitten to the stub.
10. They bring out the best in you
If there's one person you can completely be yourself with, it's your best friend. With them, you can let loose and not care about what others think, because your best friend won't judge you for the crazy things you do.
11. You take lots and lots of pictures together
Going out on the town? Doing something fun? Or just chilling at home? It doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing, you are going to take lots of pictures and selfies together. You'll snap as many as it takes until you have the one picture that is Instagram worthy. Not to mention all of the days you've spent snapchatting. You've even got a streak going.
12. You have super deep conversations
We've all had those days where we have an existential crisis or simply feel philosophical. Once you get started talking about the secrets of the universe with your best friend, you tend to dive into really deep waters and have incredible conversations about life, faith, religion, etc, and 9.9 times out of 10 you leave that conversation feeling much smarter and more whole.
13. You can trust them more than anyone else
If there's anyone you can trust with a secret, it's your best friend. You can go to them in confidence that they will protect you, your secrets, and frankly, they would probably take a bullet for you if it came down to it.
14. You can be real up front with them and they'll actually listen to you
Sometimes you need a little sense knocked into you, and your best friend is there to do the job. Scared to take a leap? They'll help you decide whether or not you should. Doing something stupid? They will make sure you know it.
15. They know exactly what you mean
You don't have to say anything, they'll know exactly what you mean just by the look you give each other. You know? Like that one time that thing happened and you did that thing and it was totally crazy? They will know.
16. You're practically a member of their family
Their parents know you on a first name basis and it is a completely normal thing for you to show up to their family events because you are practically a member of their family. Their siblings even call you their own sister or brother. They've just accepted that you are never going away (even when your best friend gets married). You will just always be there.
17. You have been on at least one road trip together
How are you even best friends if you haven't gone on a road trip? Six plus hours, somewhere cool, somewhere adventurous, somewhere you took lots of pictures with late nights and long drives—that was one of the best trips of your life.
18. You've spent more than a few months apart and you picked up right where you left off
Time doesn't stop for best friend relationships. Whether it's been a few weeks, a few months or even years since you last saw your best friend, once you are reunited, you pick up exactly where you left off. You easily fall back into your best friend routines like bread and butter. The two of you aren't going anywhere without each other. You are best friends for life.
