1. You are going to be poor

Your twenties are the time in your life when you will be the poorest you have ever been. Food is expensive, cars are expensive and life is expensive. This is the time of debt and student loans. But, the poorer you are at a young age, the richer you will be in the future as your career and financial knowledge expand.

2. You are going to have your heart broken

No one is going to escape heartbreak forever. Whether you are breaker or the breakee, breaking up is going to hurt. There will be a lot of tears, but after the pain, you will grow and discover who you truly want to spend your life with.

3. The confusion will be real

Your twenties are like taking a walk through the woods and getting bitten by a shark. They are completely unpredictable and confusing.

4. You will be lonely

Though you might have a lot of friends and a family surrounding you, your twenties can be a lonely time- especially if you are single. But through it all, lean on your true friends, your dog and your family to assure you that you are never on your own.

5. Social media is a downer

Seeing a new friend get engaged every day or seeing someone's countless traveling adventures on Facebook can have a devastating effect on your self-esteem. Everyone has their own path to tread and their own struggles to face. You will find your place in time.

6. Wandering will become a hobby

Wandering around aimlessly will become second nature to you. Where do you go to school? Where do you want to end up? What career do you want? Who are you? Wandering is normal. You have to tread many paths to find the one that leads to your future. And your future is bright.

7. You will find yourself

People always say that high school is the time for discovering yourself, but that is not so. Your twenties are a time when you do not have to answer to anyone but yourself. You can even reinvent yourself. But one thing you must know is that you will be a completely different person when you exit this decade.

8. Dating is a riddle

Some may date all the time and others may not. But one thing is certain: dating is the most confusing activity on the planet. At the end of the day, the right person for you will come when you least expect them to. Slow down and do not settle for anyone less than you deserve.

9. You will lose friends

Those friends from high school and college who you promised you'd never lose contact with? You just may lose contact one day. Everyone parts ways and ends up spread out across the globe. Sometimes it is hard to keep contact when you are miles away.

10. True friends never will though

Friends are about quality, not quantity. Your true friends will never leave your side, even if they have moved away. They will always find a way to be a part of your life. The best friend you can have is the one you don't see for months and when you do get together, it is as if nothing has changed.

11. Find what makes you happy

Find a hobby, a skill or something else that makes you happy. Focus on your own happiness from time to time and pursue your own dreams. You can always come back to whatever makes you happy through the darker moments in life.

12. Move at your own pace

There is no ticking timer considering your life. Everyone moves at the pace they are comfortable with. Some might be faster and others slower. Take your time and enjoy the time you have been given now.

13. You will fail A LOT

You may lose a job; you may fail a class, or you may move away only to move back in with your parents again. But with failure, comes knowledge for a later time.

14. But you will also triumph

Your successes will outweigh your failures. Be proud of your triumphs and learn from them.

15. Avoid toxic people

It is okay to remove people from your life. Toxic people and those who do you no good are best left behind in this decade.

16. Explore the world

If you can, travel. See the world before you settle down. Participate in a humanitarian trip, or go and tour Europe for the sake of exploration and discovery.

17. Marriage will not fix your problems

Marriage is probably the most wonderful thing that can happen to you in life, but it will not fix already existing problems as you may think it will. But when you get married, you and your spouse take on the world together, so there is nothing to worry about.

18. Your life will not turn out how you think it will

No matter what you might have planned, life will never turn out exactly as you mapped it out when you were 18. It will turn out much better.

19. Save money for a rainy day

Being smart with your money is never a bad idea. Sometimes life comes at you fast and it is good to have some money saved up for those unpredictable days.

20. Enjoy the little things

In the end, the little good things in your everyday life are the things that matter most.

21. Take care of yourself

Eat right and exercise. Your metabolism starts to slow in your twenties. The way you treat your body now will affect you in the future!

22. You are stronger than you think you are

You are indeed strong enough to handle anything life throws at you. Never underestimate your capacity for strength and endurance when you encounter a roadblock. Believe in yourself.

23. Being an adult is hard

Adulthood is uncharted territory. For once, you have all the responsibilities you took for granted as a child. It takes time to learn the ropes and get the hang of it, but you will become a master at adult'ing in due time.

24. Don't worry so much

Do not sweat the small stuff or make a mountain out of a molehill. Live in the exact moment right now, and keep your stress in check. Be positive.

25. Everything is going to turn out right

If everything is not working out right now, it will. Give it time. You are not on a set schedule, and you don't need to meet milestones every so often. Be hopeful and cheerful. Your life is just beginning, and it will end up better than you ever imagined it would be.
