Being married is an interesting experience. You're madly in love with this person you've chosen to spend the rest of your life with and you can't get enough of him. You look him in the eyes and wonder how you ever lived without him and you just want to give him everything you possibly can because your husband deserves the very best.
Well ... that's the case most of the time.
Sometimes, you start having small arguments. Or maybe kids are making married life harder than you thought possible.Perhaps your spouse just switched jobs. At some point, life will get in the way and may make you forget the excitement you once had for your hubby. While you still love your husband with your whole heart, there might be times when you don't really like him.
Whether you're sick of him leaving messes around the house or when he goes and buys something he definitely didn't need, you might have a lack of "like" for your sweetheart. Here are six things you need to remember (and do) when you start having these feelings:
1. Remember why you married him in the first place
When you find yourself having these feelings, you might ask yourself, "Why did I even marry him?" To help fix this lack of "like" in your marriage, truly answer the question for yourself. Look back to when you were dating and replay your fondest memories together in your mind. Remembering why you fell in love will help you remember your hubby is actually a really great person.
2. Make a list of his best qualities
Focusing on the positive things about him instead of the negative will do wonders for your relationship. It sounds silly and simple, but it really will make a world of difference and make you appreciate everything your husband does for you and your family.
3. Do something nice for him
You've probably heard something along the lines of, "you love who you serve and you serve who you love." This is so true. When you start doing small acts of kindness for someone, you begin to have a greater appreciation for them. This is no different for your hubby. Leave him small notes, make him breakfast or simply ask how you can make his day better to love him more. It might take a few acts of service, but soon you'll remember why you love him so much.
4. Go on a date with him
Leave the kids at home and go on a real date. Talk about hopes, dreams and everything but your worries and troubles. Dress up for each other and fall in love all over again. Regular date nights are an important part in a happy and loving marriage, so make time for a movie night even when you don't feel like it.
5. Take a vacation
If you really can't stand your husband lately and your budget allows it, take a vacation together. Having a few days to be with each other and reconnect (without the stress of life at home) will help you remember what you like most about him.
6. Tell him how you feel
You definitely shouldn't say, "Hey, I don't really like you anymore" because that would be incredibly rude and it would make your hubby feel horrible. But, you should tell him if certain things he's doing are really bothering you. Help him understand what you need from him, and give him what he needs from you. You'll both be happier and your relationship will be stronger for it when you know your spouse is happier when you don't text during dinner.
Your relationship with your husband should be the most important one in your life and it needs constant nourishment. If you find yourself resenting your husband for any reason, use these ideas to remind you why you liked him in the first place. Finding love in any situation will help you strengthen your marriage and get you closer to your spouse.
