Women have it rough. We're constantly judging ourselves, trying to be better at this or that. The age of social media has only made it worse - on the daily, we see all those mommy bloggers who seem to have the perfect life, the perfect marriage, the perfect home and perfect kids.
Social media has given women a false idea of competition, making us feel self-conscious when we don't seem to be doing as well as all the other women online.
But here's the thing: while you're busy worrying about how people perceive you, you're forgetting about the only person whose opinion really matters: your husband. And 99 percent of the things that keep you up at night, gives you knots in your neck and stresses you out, he doesn't care about. He loves you anyway, no matter what. Here's a list of six things your husband wishes you would stop worrying about:
1. Messy eyebrows
Every other year, there's a new trend and idea of how eyebrows (or thighs, or hair, or eyelashes or whatever) should look. Some women spend the majority of their morning routines making trying to make whatever is "on trend" look absolutely perfect.
But your husband doesn't care. He's not going to stop loving you if you don't have ombre hair or didn't have time to fill in your brows when you got ready this morning.
2. Perfect abs
It's sad that it seems impossible to find a woman who loves 100 percent of her body. No matter who you talk to, she'll tell you she wishes she could change something about herself. (She's not alone - this video by the Jubilee Project shows that most of us aren't comfortable in our skin).
Your husband thinks you're beautiful. Sure, he wants you to be healthy, but he wants you to be happy as well. It breaks his heart seeing you so unhappy with yourself, and he wishes you could see yourself the way he sees you: perfect in every way.
3. An immaculate home
There's nothing wrong with wanting a clean home. But when your days get busy and the dishes start to pile up, a good husband won't mind. He'd rather see you enjoying time than making sure you have the perfect Instagram-worthy kitchen.
4. A skipped shower
OK, this one doesn't mean you don't ever have to worry about showering. It simply means your husband won't care if you don't have the time to set aside and hour to get ready everyday like you used to.
When you two were dating, you took time to make yourself look good for him. And while that's still important in a marriage, your husband understands that you have different priorities now. Now, with busy schedules, a satisfying shower is a luxury. Combine that with the time it takes to style your hair and put on makeup - that's almost unheard of for young moms! Your husband understands. He loves you, and he doesn't care if you've pulled your hair back into a bun for the third day in a row.
5. Making the perfect meal
It's 2017, so you and your husband are probably both on board that cooking isn't solely your job. But if you're still stressing that you're dinner isn't up to par with whatever crazy health fad is currently going around, don't worry. Eating with you is more imporatant to him than meeting the high-expectations you put on yourself.
6. Being the perfect wife
Of course, you should be doing what you can to prioritize your husband and make him happy. But his idea of the "perfect wife" is different from that Instagram perfect wife you're fixated on. Love your husband, be yourself and the rest will fall into place.
Your husband loves you and just wants you to be happy. If you can learn to let go of that perfect Instagram life, you two will be happier and better off for it.
