Attraction is about much more than how you do your makeup and whether or not your eyebrows are on fleek. These 7 unique tips will make you more attractive to men, but will also just make you a more likable person in general.
So, yes, apply these to your next run in with an attractive guy, but also apply them when you meet his parents, have a job interview or even just at your next social event. They'll make all the difference.
1. Smile (please)
This comes straight from Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People," one of the most popular self-help books of all time.
Smiling can change everything. It's simple and subtle, but says a whole lot about who you are. Smile at people. It makes them feel good, like you're smiling because of them, which may or may not be true.
On the flipside, some women may have an unfortunate resting face — you know, the face you make when you're not making any faces — that could be scaring men away.
One of the most beautiful female friends I have has a terrifying resting face. I thought she hated me and everything about life for a long time, until I realized it was just the way her face was. I know, that sounds bad.
Smiling helps avoid situations like that. Do it.
2. Posture
Not only is it healthier, but for some reason having good posture makes you look like you've really got your life together — which is very attractive. Look straight forward, not at your feet. Keep your shoulders back and your back straight.
Don't forget that smile.
3. Make eye contact
OK, not all the time, that's creepy, but make sure you're frequently making eye contact. If you think eye contact is awkward, you may be inadvertantly making things even more awkward by purposefully avoiding it.
Avoiding eye contact makes us men think you're not interested — romantically and just in general. What else are you looking at? Please don't say your phone.
Extra tip: If he says something funny, look at his eyes when you laugh. That drives us crazy. In a good way.
4. Use names
Dale Carnegie said, "There is no sweeter sound to any person's ear than the sound of their own name ... "
This is another one straight from my main man, Dale. People love to hear their name. People love it when you remember their name — especially if they only told you once, briefly. It means you value that person enough to use up some space in your brain to store information about them. Additionally, if they failed to remember your name (embarrassing), they're going to feel a greater desire to get to know you.
5. Believe you're worth their time
Be confident. If you're just not a confident person, fake it. It makes you appear more capable, and men love a capable woman.
Showing confidence if you're not generally confident is an extremely difficult thing to do, but remember: "There's no growth in the comfort zone, and there's no comfort in the growth zone." Try believing in yourself, you just might be good at it.
6. Be positive
Towards yourself and towards others.
Compliment people.
Focus on the good.
Be encouraging.
Have hope.
Everyone loves someone who is uplifting. They're the role models of the world. People will want to be around you because you make them feel good. You know the kind of people I'm talking about. Aren't they the best?
7. Eat well
This has nothing to do with the shape of your body or your BMI. People who feel better look better. It shows. Eat food that makes you feel good for the rest of the day — I'm not talking about that stash of Little Debbie snacks you have hidden away, but I'm also not talking about a stack of celery sticks.
For example, adding protein to your diet helps release chemicals like dopamine, which can boost your mood and give you some much needed energy, according to this article. Find your healthy energizer foods — hopefully you find some that tastes decent — and make eating them a habit.
