Games are a fun way for couples to express their playful side after a long week of working and paying the bills.

Here are a few games that will allow you to do just that:

1. Paint Twister

This is one of my personal favorites. Buy a normal Twister game; but to spice things up a little, also buy paint the same color as the game layout. When you play, be sure to lay out some newspapers or play in the back yard, because things will get messy — fast. Add each paint color to its matching colored circle, and let the flirtatious, colorful wrestling begin.

I need to do this!? #PaintTwister

2. Love me love me

This game is a cute way for you to steal a sweet one from your hubby; and if you love movies as much as I do then this will be a fave. Pop in a movie — any kind will work, but preferably a romance. Every time someone says the word "love" in the movie, lean over and lay one on your spouse. It's a great way to feel like a giddy teenager again, and a great excuse to steal a kiss.

3. Back to the baby

This game is a fun way to get to know your spouse better and learn more about each other's childhoods. Find that stash of each of your baby pictures. Take turns showing each other a childhood photo of yourselves, and with each one try to recall a memory from your childhood about that specific photo. At the end, go through each picture again, but this time you each have to recall what the memory was from each other's photos. Whoever remembers the most memories from the other's photos gets the most points.

4. Nerf war

You may have seen photos on social media of a Nerf gun seated next to a note that reads something like "Nerf war" awaiting a husband when he gets home from work. It's a fun, playful idea. If you want to get in touch with your inner child, then Nerfing is the way to go.

5. Water fight

This is basically the summertime version of the Nerf war. Why not spend a warm summer evening running around your yard throwing water balloons at each other instead of just sitting in front of the TV?

6. Scavenger hunt

This requires some pre-planning on your part, but it's worth it in the end. Make dinner reservations at his favorite restaurant or set up a candle-lit dinner on a blanket outside as a final destination to the hunt. Tape the first clue in a place you know your husband will see it — maybe the front door or bathroom mirror. Each clue will be a hint that leads closer and closer to you. Have a friend walk through the steps to be sure they aren't confusing — you don't want your husband to get lost.

7. Food fight

This one could be spontaneous when you both need a good laugh. Cake baking gives you perfect ingredients for a good food fight. You can smash some eggs and throw some flour on each other. It's also a great reason to clean up and cuddle on the couch together with a slice of that cake — if you were able to even make it.

8. Dare night

This is my personal addition to the list. Go around town thinking up fun dares for each other for a random evening. For instance, shop for bird seed and ask a store clerk how long it takes the birds to grow. Or dare each other to sing randomly in public. These can create some fond memories to look back on.

Although some of these games might seem childish after years of marriage, it is important to keep the spark alive. Playing games with your spouse is a fun way to accomplish that.
