I will be the first one to admit that I get jealous all the time. Honestly, I think I'm in general just a jealous woman. I love to have a claim over things that I feel belong to me. But I know in order for me to attain a healthy and lasting relationship I need to resolve this problem.

Stopping jealousy in its tracks is easier said than done. It takes patience and practice. Here are just a few ways you can stop being so jealous:

1. Analysis

Realizing what made you jealous in the first place is a good way of figuring out what you become envious over. Did someone look at your partner in a wrong way or did they just make a flirty comment? Figure out what is irking you then work from there.

2. Stop comparing yourself

This is a problem I have. Women love to compare physical features, who is wearing the latest styles and who has better hair. Not only is this unhealthy for your self-esteem, it only fuels your jealousy. Break your habit of comparing and see how much your attitude will change towards others and how much stronger it makes your relationships.

3. Recreating your confidence

Put time into growing your confidence and self-esteem to help you progress from being a jealous woman. Spending time to realize how amazing you really are will turn you from being petty to a woman with glistening confidence. This confidence boost will also make you more attractive to your partner; no one wants to date someone who doesn't believe in themselves.

4. Focusing on your love

All of these changes will benefit you and your relationship. Putting time and energy into focusing on yourself and how you can better help your partner will help your relationship thrive. Focus on the things you do have, instead of being jealous of what you don't. All other concerns will melt away when you focus on your blessings.

5. Establishing safe zones

Relationships are all about love, respect and boundaries. Develop safe areas in your relationships to help your love flourish and erase your envy. Do you feel jealous when your partner goes out with a friend? Do you feel upset when he doesn't invite you to his work parties? Deciding on what things make you both comfortable and happy creates an environment where jealousy can't survive.

6. Finding trust

Trust is most likely the biggest thing that can help you overcome your jealousy. Practicing how much trust you have in your partner will not only test their commitment towards you but allow them the chance to show you how much they care for you. Once they prove that, you know there's no need to be jealous because your partner loves you. There is no better feeling than knowing your relationship will never falter because of the immense trust you place in your partner.

7. Lengthening the leash

If you want your relationship to not be hindered by your envious ways then show your partner you completely trust them. Let him go out for a guy's night. Let her go to the club with the ladies. Stop being the possessive and controlling partner in the relationship and relax.

8. Stop playing games

Don't mess with your partner's head. Stop thinking they can read your mind, don't give them the silent treatment and don't throw a tantrum. Don't try and get revenge by flirting with someone else. These reactions only stir up more problems. Tell your partner why are you upset, what is making you jealous and focus on clear communication.

Just because you become jealous doesn't make you a bad person. It's normal and just shows that you care for your partner and don't want who you treasure to be taken away from you. However, there is a fine line between being a jealous partner and being possessive. Seek to make your relationship healthy and happy by trusting and considering these suggestions in resolving your jealous tendencies.
