Country singer Carly Pearce has recently been promoting her new single, "We Don't Fight Anymore," where she describes the song as "the worst place" a person can get in a relationship. "I think it's just about that place of indifference. I think that can be the worst place that you could ever get in a relationship, is when neither of you really care," Pearce explained at the Country Music Association (CMA) Fest. The 33-year-old singer collaborated with Chris Stapleton on the song, who she says is her "dream collaborator" and labels the song as the "best song" she's ever worked on.
Pearce spoke about her new single, saying that although the song is not about her own relationships, she can find parts of it that relate to her or relate to scenarios she has seen her friends go through. Pearce said that she hopes that the song can inspire couples who may be in a tough spot in their relationship. "I feel like it's an important message…one that maybe can save a marriage or save a relationship, or maybe it can give somebody the boost to really call it and be done," she said.
Pearce's new song comes after the news that she and her boyfriend, Riley King, called it quits after two years of dating. The singer was previously married to Michael Ray. Pearce and Ray made their relationship public in July 2018 before getting engaged just five months later. The couple tied the knot in October 2019, splitting eight months after their wedding. After their divorce was finalized, Pearce spoke about how "embarrassing" it was to have "failed at love." She told her listeners to "trust in God" and lean on their faith when going though a tough time, saying "Trust God, trust the process and use each experience — whether it’s good or bad — as a place of refining you instead of defining you."
