Danica Mckellar and Candace Cameron Bure have been friends for decades, but recently found out that they were in a love triangle together as young teens. While speaking at That’s4Entertainment’s '90s Con in Tampa, Florida, McKellar recounted the story. "So, in 1989, I believe it was, there was this party that a teen magazine was putting on and ["Growing Pains" star] Jeremy Miller, who was also a young actor, he was at this party. I was there, and Candace was there, and he asked me to be his girlfriend. And I was like, ‘Yes!’ And I didn't know at the time, but I guess Candace thought that she and Jeremy were dating." She continued "It’s so silly. I mean, we were so young. We were like 13 years old. So, this was not any kind of serious relationship we're talking about." The actress explained how she learned of this lighthearted love triangle, saying she found out while she was on "Dancing with the Stars" with Bure in 2014. "I found out years later on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ I found out that she was like, ‘Oh, we were dating. I'm like, What?’ So, Jeremy, tsk tsk, not good," she said with a laugh. "But luckily my friendship with Candace has survived just fine."
McKellar and Bure were both child stars in the 90's with McKellar starring as "Winnie" in "Wonder Years" while Bure starred "D.J. Tanner" in "Full House." The duo crossed paths quite a few times as teenagers before they both starred in the 1990 TV movie "Camp Cucamonga" alongside Jennifer Anniston. They reconnected as friends when they both competed in Season 18 of "Dancing with the Stars" where McKellar finished sixth and Bure finished third. More recently, the actresses have continued to work together on the Great American Family network, where Bure is the chief creative officer.
The women have many things in common, ranging from their careers as actresses to their Christian faith. Bure has continued to be an outspoken Christian over the years, but for McKellar, her faith journey is growing. "I am a new believer as of April of last year, and it's been the most amazing journey and relationship," said McKellar. She has been open about her faith journey on social media and while being a part of the Great American Community, which is an app linked to the Great American Family Channel. "For me, it's not about religion, it's about relationship. And that's what I'm finding so fulfilling. And … I wish it and pray it for everyone to feel the kind of peace that comes with that."
