Goldie Hawn recently opened up about her relationship with Kurt Russell while in an interview with CNN's Chris Wallace. Hawn was asked about her relationship with Kurt Russell, who has been her longtime partner for 40 years, but have never tied the knot. Hawn has spoken on her thoughts of marriage with Russell many of times before, but she gave a bit more insight on her choice while chatting with Wallace. “Why should we be?" said Hawn. “Isn’t that a better question?” Hawn and Russell first met in 1983 while on set for "Swing Shift" and began dating soon after and three years later, they welcomed their son, Wyatt. Hawn and Russell both had children prior to their relationship from previous marriages, and now have blended the families.

Hawn continued about her reasoning for not marrying again saying, “When it doesn’t work out, it ends up to be big business. It’s always ugly.” Hawn was married twice before and Russel was married once before. “Somebody actually has to take a look and say, ’How many divorces actually are fun? How many divorces actually don’t cost money? How many divorces actually make you hate the person more than you did before?” Hawn told Wallace. She continued by saying, “How many divorces have hurt children?” Wallace told Hawn that it was obvious from the beginning that the pair would stay together forever, but Hawn responded saying, “How did you know that then?" She continued by saying, "I like the idea that I can wake up in the morning and make decisions every day if I want to be here.”

The actress added that her relationship isn't successful because of their choice not to get married, but because they make the choice to nurture it regularly. She agreed that "relationships are hard" and "not always easy" but focusing on their needs for each other is the most important.
