How To See Jesus Face To Face

We are told in the Bible if we love Jesus and keep His commandments, He will come to us and stay with us. We even plead for Jesus to come in famous Christian hymns such as "Abide with me."

But do we actually believe He will come? Do we believe we can see Jesus face to face? Many saw Him after His resurrection, and because of this, we can know without a doubt we can see Him too. For God is the same yesterday, today and forever and is no respecter of persons. If we desire to see Him and live worthy of that blessing, Jesus Himself promises us He will come to us. We can see Him too.

Here are five steps we can take to see Jesus face to face.

Believe Him

It is impossible to see Jesus if we do not fully believe Him or believe in Him. Faith is believing in things we cannot see that are true. Jesus is truth and as we choose to believe Him and believe He is real, we will feel His truth burn deep within our hearts. We will know Him, not just know about Him, and we will feel Him in our hearts.

Trust Him

If we desire to see Jesus, it is important we trust His promises are sure. Jesus promised He would stay with us; we need to trust that promise. We can be certain He will come to us because it is a promise He made and He always keeps His promises. Of this we can be sure.

Envision Him

The Bible is filled with visions of the prophets of old. The word "envision" is formed by the prefix "en" meaning "to cause (a person or thing) to be in." The word "vision" means "an experience in which a personage, thing or event appears vividly or credibly to the mind" or "the act or power of anticipating that which will come to be." If you want to see Jesus face to face, then envision seeing Him face to face and He will come.

Engrave Him

The word "engrave" means to impress deeply. If you want to see Jesus, you need to engrave Him deeply into your very soul and countenance. You need to figuratively feel with His heart, see with His eyes and serve as if your hands were His. If you want to see Him, learn to be like Him, until your heart is one with His.

Magnify Him

The archaic meaning of "magnify" is to "extol or praise," and the meaning of "praise" is "the offering of grateful homage in words or song, as an act of worship." Showing grateful praise in song is one of the highest forms of worship we can give God and Jesus. Hymns are simply prayers put to music and they allow us the ability to praise and worship God along with the angels of heaven who are continually singing His praises. By magnifying the Lord in song, we are calling down blessings from heaven. If we desire it, one of the blessings of sacred music is requesting Jesus' presence.

Seeing Jesus face to face is a personal and individual experience. As we strive to move closer to Him, He will move closer to us. And, one day, we will see Him face to face.
