In the moment, heartbreak can feel like the worst pain you've ever experienced. When things don't work out with people we love, the pain lingers for a long time. But what do you do after your man breaks your heart? First of all, don't be so quick to give up on love- because love will find you eventually. It may not be now, but it will be someday.

In order to get to someday and find the love you've been waiting for, these five steps will help you mend your broken heart so you can get back to feeling like the normal you:

1. Allow yourself to feel

There is nothing wrong with letting everything out. Give yourself time and space to cry. Don't be afraid to express your emotions around close friends and family. They're there to help you and to lend an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.

Most importantly, allow yourself to feel what you're feeling and not to be ashamed of it. There is nothing wrong with crying, including ugly crying. While it's important to let yourself feel, don't wallow in your pain. Feeling unhappy for too long can be a bad thing. Once you've cried all of the tears to be shed, that's when it's time to move to the next step.

2. Don't rush yourself

Getting back into the swing of things can be difficult. Oftentimes we've got to pick ourselves up and go to work or school the very next day after the heartbreak. It's okay to put on a face, but don't push yourself. Certainly don't rush yourself into trying to find another man to love. Your heart can only handle so much at once. Make sure to give your heart the time it needs to mend itself and recover. Your heart, mind and body will be all the better for it in the long run.

3. Spend time with friends

Alone time is good but not good enough. Allow yourself some social interaction by spending time with your close friends and family. Your friends will always be there for you in your time of need. They're there to listen to you and to help you through this so you can come out the other end a better, stronger woman than you were before.

Your friends will help to make you laugh, see things from a new perspective and to help you back up on your feet.

4. Do something nice for yourself

Don't coop yourself up in your house. Open the blinds, open the windows, get dressed and walk out that door and do something nice for yourself! Get a breath of fresh air and go for a walk or a run. Go somewhere you've never been before.

Keep yourself occupied and do something that you know will make you happy and take your mind off of your broken heart. Staying active and doing things you love will only help your heart mend itself until it is fully healed.

5. Let it go

Last but not least, you need to let it go. Stop holding onto the past and let your heart be fully healed by letting go. Don't be afraid to put the past behind you and look forward to the future. Of course, the relationship may have been right at the time, but now it's not. That door closed so another one, a better one, could open. When the time comes, don't be afraid to walk through that door and let it take you wherever it takes you. You may not realize it now, but with each step you take, you're one step closer to finding the happiness you're looking for. All it takes is taking one step at a time.
