Author Lisa Jacobson said, "One of the highest honors a woman can hold is that of a wife. She is the most influential woman in her husband's world."

Unfortunately, many of us forget that. We let negative thoughts consume us, tear us down and make us believe we aren't all that special. The joy of being a wife is diminished with the hustle and bustle of daily life. We forget that we have something beautiful and we let lies and negative thoughts destroy it.

It doesn't have to be that way. We can cast away those negative thoughts and fill our mind with positivity and encouragement. To find more joy in being a wife, here are five things you should tell yourself every single day.

1. "I don't have to be the best."

Someone will always have a nicer home, be a better cook, keep a tidier house, wear more fashionable clothes, etc. Who cares? Remember; everyone has skeletons in their closet. Stop comparing yourself to others. You have strengths that others look at and admire. Don't dwell on your weaknesses.

2. "I'm making a difference."

It is easy to become discouraged when there is much tension and discord in your marriage. You may be enduring a season of life filled with annoyance, coldness and anger between you and your spouse. Remember that when those hard times come - and they will - that you are making a difference in the lives of your family members. Even though your life may not be all sunshine and rainbows, if you believe you can make a difference, then you can.

3. "I am loved."

Your husband loves you. He adores you. If you don't feel continually loved by your spouse, I'm sorry. Remember, he isn't the only one who loves you. God is aware of you and your situation. His love for you is eternal and when you feel all alone or are struggling in your position as a wife, he can help. Ask him to help you feel loved.

4. "I am beautiful, strong and capable."

We are our own worst critics. We can easily point out our every flaw.

Stop it!

You have unique gifts, talents and abilities. You have beauty not only on the outside but the inside as well. For every negative thought you have about yourself, replace it with three positive compliments. When you can love yourself, you will realize you are worthy to have a beautiful marriage. You are strong and capable of so much more than you can imagine. Start believing it!

5. "He chose me."

Your husband loves you. Out of all the women in the world, he chose you. He finds you beautiful. You are the person he wants to come home to every single day. You are the one he wants to endure trials and challenges with. Despite your weaknesses, there is nobody else. He wants you.

On those days when you feel overwhelmed, worn-down, tired and depressed, remember who you are, the potential you have and the strength that is lying within you, because you really are worth it.
