Eric McCormack and Janet Leigh Holden McCormack are calling it quits after 26 years of marriage. The "Will & Grace" star and the director have decided to part ways according to court documents obtained by TMZ. Janet filed for divorce over "irreconcilable differences" and is asking for spousal support along with requesting the court end Eric's ability to receive spousal support. The date of separation was not listed in the divorce filing that was entered the day before Thanksgiving.

The pair first met on the set of the CBS TV series "Lonesome Dove" in 1994. They tied the knot in August 1997 and welcomed their only child, Finnigan Holden McCormack, in 1997. In April 2020, Eric shared a photo of him and Janet at the 1994 wrap party of "Lonesome Dove," which marked their first official photo together. He wrote in the caption, “This is the first shot Janet & I took at the #LonesomeDove Season 1 Wrap Party, circa Dec '94. Just so happens this was our ‘coming out’ party. No one on the show knew we'd been dating for months." In a 2007 interview with "The Guardian" Eric opened up about the beginning of his relationship with Janet. “I met my wife, Janet, in 1994 on the set of a TV series. She was the assistant director. I was just coming out of a relationship, and not to be trusted," he wrote. "I'd been dating actresses but Janet was different. She wore jeans, drove a pick-up truck.” Eric continued, “At first she wasn't too keen. She knew actors are a lot of work: it would be like taking your work home with you. But I managed to convince her. We had a secret affair the first season. I mean, dating crew! Actually, it was much worse for her, because she wasn't supposed to give any of the actors preferential treatment," the actor added.
