Let's be honest. We all want beautiful and young looking skin. Unfortunately, sometimes that seems like an impossible goal - how do you get the skin you want without paying the Hollywood price? It may not be as hard as it seems.
Follow these six steps and be amazed at how easy it is to get your healthy looking skin back:
1. Moisturize
The best way to keep your skin healthy and happy is to moisturize. So many of the anti-aging creams we see advertised are just really powerful moisturizers. Give your face some love by investing in a good quality moisturizer; choose to invest but don't feel like you have to break the bank.
Beauty expert Bobbi Brownsuggests first figuring out what type of moisturizer your face needs. If you have an oily complexion, go for "a gel-based cleanser and a light oil-free moisturizer". For dry and flaky skin, try out a thick and creamy balm.
2. Drink water
Keeping your skin looking young and healthy has a lot to do with drinking lots and lots of water. Your skin needs water to keep the elasticity elements healthy.
Drinking more water is the easiest way to keep the elasticity in your skin. Eating more fruits and vegetables is another easy way to increase your water intake for the day. Nutritionist Samantha Heller puts it this way: "Everything you eat becomes a part of not only your inner being, but the outer fabric of your body as well. The healthier the foods are that you consume, the better your skin will look."
3. Sunscreen
This is one of the hardest solutions for me because I hate the smell of sunscreen. I remember years of arguing with my mom about putting sunscreen on. Luckily, when I grew up I realized that I could still get that UV protection by applying a face cream or tinted moistuzer, without that sunscreen smell.
Healthy skin (and preventing skin cancer) means avoiding the harmful UV rays, so don't forget to skip out on some sort of protection.
4. Avoid squinting
We've all showed up to an outdoor sporting event before and realized we forgot our sunglasses. We spend the whole time squinting down at the field, stretching your skin and deepening those wrinkles. New Beauty suggests wearing sunglasses in bright light and wearing reading glasses (to avoid squinting while reading) can help avoid creating more wrinkles and fine lines.
5. Face masks
If you're like me, you don't have the money to spend on expensive creams and face masks. Therefore, I love when I can DIY great solutions that'll deeply moisturize my face and help repair and prevent wrinkles. Here are a couple of homemade facial mask recipes that you can use to keep your skin healthy.
6. Sleep on your back
According to WebMD, sleeping on your side creates fine lines on your cheeks and chin, and sleeping on your stomach "gives you a furrowed brow". Sleep on your back to help prevent wrinkles from forming while you snooze.
By following these six simple tricks you can help reverse the aging process and keep your skin looking young and healthy.
