Pictures truly are worth a thousand words. They tell a story. They remind us of the good (and occasionally the bad) times in our life. June 29th is Camera Day. This unique holiday provides the perfect opportunity for us to organize photos, capture new ones, update images of our family members, scrapbook and more. Here are four ways you can celebrate Camera Day and enjoy all of the photos of your friends and family captured throughout the years.
Organize
Whether you have hundreds of physical or digital images, it is important that you keep them organized. Unorganized photographs can result in being lost, ripped, ruined and ultimately destroyed. On Camera Day, take the time to go through all of your photographs. Use shoe boxes, plastic bags, fireproof boxes, folders and any other organization item to store your physical images. Make sure you add notes on the back of the photographs to help you remember dates and people.
To organize your digital photographs, separate them into folders by dates, people, events and more. Make sure to backup all of your photos in case your computer crashes and you lose all of the data stored on your hard drive. Additionally, attach notes and comments to all of your photos. And if you have time, edit the photos to ensure they are of high quality and appear how you desire.
Capture updated photos
Time passes by quickly. Before you know it, all of the photos of your family members are old and outdated. Today, take the time to capture new photos. Take the pictures yourself or hire someone to take them for you. And once you have the new photos printed, replace all of your old photos in the picture frames around your home. Give your family's images an updated and fresh look.
Scrapbook
A favorite hobby for many individuals is to create a scrapbook. It is calming and relaxing for some and provides a little "me" time for many moms. Scrapbooking is also an excellent way to store your photos. It is a fun way to tell a story and to bring back many fond memories.
A popular trend is creating a digital scrapbook. Because many of your photos are stored on your computer, this is a quick and easy way to organize and share your photos. It is also a less expensive way to scrapbook, yet still enjoy expressing your creativity.
Complete a craft
There are many crafts that you can complete for your home that involve pictures of your family members and friends. You can create a calendar with each month filled with your favorite photos. Use glue or modge podge and add photos to the exterior of a shoebox or another type of box. You can use this box as a storage bin or as a photo box. You can also create collages for your wall or create a variety of other home decor. The opportunities are endless.
Make the most out of the photos that capture your family's most memorable events. Camera Day is the perfect time to do something with those photos or catch up and add some new photos to your collection. Your photos will tell the story of your family. What will you do to ensure it's recorded?
